Taiwan health company introduces ancient Himalayan botanical, Shilajit, to Asia's beauty industry

There are numerous beauty products available on the market. However, what makes Shilajit products stand out is its all rounded benefit to the human body. Many of the beauty products are specified to achieve one aim, be it whitening or moisturising. However, with Shilajit products, due to the high number of minerals and Fulvic acid they contain, they will be able to provide multiple benefits

TAIPEI, Oct. 18, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Amid increased awareness on health and wellness, consumers are willing to spend time and money to look for products that are beneficial for their body. This applies the healthcare products where research shows consumers are willing to pay top dollar for products that are natural. According to a research, the global natural cosmetics market is expected to reach US$48.04billion by 2025. Taiwan health company Shilajit Biotech is making use of this trend to introduce an ancient substance found in the Himalayas to the Asian market.

Bhutan Shilajit
The collection of Bhutan Shilajit must be carried out on vertical mountain walls at 4500 meters in the Himalayas.

Called Shilajit, this sticky tar-like resin is developed from the slow decomposition of plants in the rocks of the Himalayas. This substance takes centuries to develop. Initially used in Indian Ayurvedic medicine for anti-aging and rejuvenation, this ingredient contains more than 80 types of minerals, along with the rare fulvic acid which was only discovered in the 21st century and promotes antioxidant activity in one's body.

"The supply of Shilajit is getting smaller and smaller around the world. Initially this substance could be found in India and Tibet. However, over the years, most of it have been removed after people started discovering the benefits of this substance. We managed to source Shilajit in Bhutan where the environment is perfectly conserved and now, we want to introduce this compound filled ingredient to Asia where it's a relatively unknown," said Wen Chi, founder of DakiniDéesse, Shilajit Biotech's skincare brand.

Wen added some companies are choosing to artificially produce some of the main minerals and acids found in Shilajit such as Fulvic acid. Even though synthetic Fulvic acid takes a shorter three to five years to created compared with the 1,000 years for it to be produced naturally, Wen said researches have shown that the natural version enables better absorption of minerals.

Shilajit Biotech offers a wide range of skincare products that uses Shilajit as the main ingredient. This includes facial cleaners, rejuvenation serum and cream, anti-aging toner, and aromatherapy oil.

"There are numerous beauty products available on the market. However, what makes Shilajit products stand out is its all rounded benefit to the human body. Many of the beauty products are specified to achieve one aim, be it whitening or moisturising. However, with Shilajit products, due to the high number of minerals and Fulvic acid they contain, they will be able to provide multiple benefits," said Wen.

Shilajit Biotech is currently selling its products in Hong Kong and Taiwan. It plans to expand its consumer base and reach the Singaporean, American and Bhutanese markets in the future.
